After Angelo and Jacquelene McHorse started their family, they desired more natural products than ever before, beginning with personal care products.
“We had some soap recipes from hobby making so we decided to try out making a business with products we intended to use in our own household,” they say on their website.
Then, in 2013, the idea of Bison Star Naturals was born and opened in January of 2018. They are a small family business whose products are made with organically, naturally and locally sourced ingredients. The plants in their bar soaps are wild harvested and nothing they make contains animal products, dyes or perfumes.
So how did they come up with their name?
When Angelo brought Jacquelene homes to Taos Pueblo, he introduced her to his whole family. “This is Jacquelene Brisson-Stahl [her maiden name]”, he said. One of the children in the family looked up and said “Did you say Jacquelene Bison Star??” which made everybody laugh and became a fond memory. While deciding on a name for their business, Bison Star was brought up and chosen.
The company carries a variety of personal care products including lotions, soaps, lip balm, and shampoo, among others. They also sell t-shirts, hoodies, coffee mugs, and tote bags.
Their products can also be found in stores throughout Taos, and across New Mexico.
You can find all of their products on their website, as well as stay up-to-date on their latest activities on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
